    i, am Mr Smith is a track i, created a few years back based on the writings of Greek philosopher Plato, called Plato’s Cave, who writes of a group of prisoners enslaved from birth to death in a dark underground cave; these men, women, and children were chained together in such a way that prevented any of them from turning their heads, which kept them all looking in only the one direction; all these prisoners had ever seen for their entire lives was the interior of the same one wall in front of them, which had shadows and shapes projected on this wall from a fire lit behind them;

    The prisoners had long since agreed on the meanings of all the flickering images on the wall, and what they represented; all the new prisoners from birth to death, born into this ‘System’ would be taught to believe the same beliefs, values, and ideas, real or imagined gained from those images on the wall from  the collective prisoners, past and present; overtime they all learn to speak the same words that do not belong to them;

    Eventually, one of the prisoners gets away from the group, to go and have a look outside the cave, and look above ground; a curiosity to find out what was true for himself about how the world really works; he has a rude awakening when looking around, to realize things are not quite as they seem;

    So he heads back to the cave to tell his people what he’d discovered, he was sure they would be fascinated, just as he was with what he had to say, unfortunately the other prisoners did not see things quite the same way; they had no interest in what he had to say, let alone believe in what he had to say;

    In the movie The Matrix, Morpheus explains the above scenario when referring to The Matrix or The System that people are born into: “Most of these people are not ready to be unplugged, and many of them are so hopelessly dependent on The System, [that] they will fight to protect it.”

    Man, will fight mentally and physically to retain his illusions; prisoners that don’t know their prisoners don’t think they are prisoners;

    Plato’s cave is a metaphor for institutional control that people allow themselves to be subjected to; back in the day around the 1930’s, Aldous Huxley put it this way: “The greater part of the population is not very intelligent, dreads responsibility, and desires nothing better than to be told what to do. Provided the rulers do not interfere with its material comforts and its cherished beliefs, it is perfectly happy to let itself be ruled.”

    The Matrix is The System you are born into that you take for granted; doing what everybody else does because you were trained just like everybody else, and don’t know any different; no one questions the world they’re born into, and take what is said at face value; modern society is Plato’s Cave; what is seen and believed is what is taught to be seen and believed, not the reality of ‘what is.

    We believe what we’re told because we are schooled to believe what we are told; no dead entity can withhold any-thing from a living soul made flesh and blood. We need to recognize the limitations of fictional dead entities, as the earth is each man, or woman’s, shared inheritance, passed down through generations;
